Carida is a planet of the Galactic Core and home of the famous Academy of Carida, one of the most important institutions of higher education in the Galaxy. It has a deeply varied topography and terrain, ranging from rocky mountains and ice fields to undulating deserts to choking jungles. It also boasted an increased gravity that made movement for the novice a wearying challenge.
The Academy on Carida was a sprawling campus, and was dedicated to General and Advanced Academics, Administration, Sciences, and Operative Linguistics. Some manner of Engineering and Technical Sciences was also taught, but not to the same scale as other, more focused schools. Even during the turn to Imperialism, Carida continued to offer a wide and diverse range of courses, but added substantial study of military theory, history, tactics, and leadership to the curriculum.
Because of the varied terrains and physically challenging environment, the Empire invested a significant amount in developing Carida as a Stormtrooper training center. Indeed, the Academy became the primary location for the growth and development of Stormtrooper officers, who would then graduate from the program to take their leadership and knowledge into the Empire.
Points of interest on the planet include the Ressl River and Forgofshar Desert.
